Amidst these dark and cold days, we remember the story of a homeless couple going door to door, desperate for a place to stay.
The night was cold; there was danger around every corner. It was not in the high-up, or the righteous towers of the castles – it was in a lowly manger that God was found amongst us. Emmanuel, God with us, Christ was born that Christmas eve. He came into the world as an ordinary person. God was found not to be mighty and powerful, but as a simple babe. We can remember that this Christmas season. God is amongst us. God comes to us all. Unconditionally and unearned, God comes to all the people of the world. The Holy Spirit is in us, through us, and in the brokenness of the world…continually calling us through the word. The words of hope that we cling to – Love, Hope and Faith – are found in the manger. God came into the world and scattered the darkness. God came for you! As we gather this Christmas with friends and family, remember the hope of the Lord; remember the light that shines in you. You are the light of the world, and let your good works shine before others that you might glorify your Father in heaven, through your good works! Grace and peace, mercy and love, be with you from God our Father, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. |
