At North Beaver Creek we are part of Jesus' body throughout the World (the Church). We actively support local and global outreach to the poor and hungry. We have many partnerships with service organizations and larger expressions of being Church. Below are links to some of our partnerships and ministries we support.

North Beaver Creek, together with 74 other congregations, form a synod (from the word synagogue - meaning to come together). We are part of the La Crosse Area synod which has an elected Bishop (Rev. Jim Arends) who, along with the Synod staff and volunteers support congregational ministry as well as working on bigger projects that work for justice and peace locally and globally. North Beaver Creek gives at least 8.5% of all offerings (money donated) to the La Crosse Area Synod.

Ministries
Sugar Creek Bible Camp is a Lutheran Bible camp located in Ferryville, WI. It is a place set apart for people to get away to deepen their faith and understanding of who God is in their own lives, world and in nature.
North Beaver Creek has a great tradition of sending campers, confirmation students and inviting Sugar Creek here for a week of Vacation Bible School every summer. |
The La Crosse Area synod and its 74 congregations are part of the ELCA - the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which is made up of 65 synods. We are tied to the ELCA through belief, heritage, and practice. While that doesn't mean every ELCA congregation is the same (there is a surprising diversity among congregations), it does mean that we share core values, mission and understanding about faith and of God as revealed in the Bible, the World, and most importantly in Jesus.
The Lutheran World Federation is a way for different Lutheran church bodies (like the ELCA) to organize and work on global projects. It is a little like the United Nations in that each group has some autonomy while agreeing to basic principles for the sake of a larger mission.

North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church dedicates 2% of all offerings to Lutheran Social Services (LSS). LSS is best known for coordinating domestic adoptions, providing counseling services, and attending to the basic needs of the most vulnerable in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Through Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran Disaster Response we are able to work on long term solutions to systemic problems (like chronic hunger, disease, and homelessness) while providing immediate aid to those most in need.
Our W-ELCA makes quilts found all over the world, health kits, school kits and other items that provide tangible help in times of trouble. Jackson County (Taylor) & Blair
North Beaver Creek actively supports both food pantries -- often with the profits from our annual Lutefisk dinner in October and every January for the Souperbowl Challenge. This year we collected over $1,233 for the food pantries during the month of January. |
